Eclipse 2015 - The view from London!

Today was such an iconic day for astronomy. Not only did it mark the first day of Spring (barely feels like it), the moon was positioned directly in front of the sun creating a solar eclipse across many parts of the UK and Europe. The last time an event like this happened was in 1999, so what did it look like in London today? As I rushed over to the nearest window, I was treated with this view:

You can always rely on British weather to upstage the main event happening in the sky, the clouds were so thick not even a single ray from could be seen from the sun. As scientists predict the next solar eclipse will arrive in around a decade, the only thing to do now is wait another 10 years and hope the clouds aren't so desperate to be in the spotlight.
