Assetto Corsa races on the PS4 and Xbox One

Fans of racing sim games on consoles have had much to look forward in recent times. Gran Turismo 6 continues to receive constant updates with the addition of free additional cars and features, Project CARS was released recently and Forza Motorsport 6 is set to make a debut at E3. Italian-based game development studio 'Kunos Simulazioni' decided they are ready to take a slice of the growing console market and is preparing to release Assetto Corsa on the Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

Assetto Corsa was originally released in November 2014 through early access on Steam with the full release following a month later. Branded as 'Your Racing Simulator', Assetto Corsa provided great emphasis on creating the most realistic driving experience from carefully thought-out car handling to laser-scanned race tracks.

The game mainly features exotic road cars, race cars and single seaters with brands such as BMW, Ferrari, Lotus and Pagani headlining the manufacturers currently present in the game. Even compared to Project CARS, the car list is rather modest - This is because AC places a great emphasis on the ease of adding user-generated content to the game with third party modellers continuously adding more content to the game.

Those who are eagerly awaiting the release of Assetto Corsa on consoles should bare in mind neither platform supports the addition of third party content. However, chances are the developers are going to add more content onto the console version with over 100 cars and 20 enviroments planned to be available ahead of its release sometime in 2016.
