Understeer, be gone! - Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 unveiled

If you think the Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 lacks a thrilling driving experience because of its four wheel drive system, the Italian supercar maker has unleashed a new addition to its line-up which is sure to cater for your needs. Called the LP580-2, the new Huracan takes the position as the entry level Lamborghini. It is visually distinguishable from the LP610-4 thanks to a revised front bumper, reworked rear diffuser and bespoke 19 inch alloys wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tyres.

As the name suggests, this car has 580 hp which is provided by a de-tuned version of the 5.2 litre V10 found in the four wheel drive LP610-4. That amount of power is enough to propel the LP580-2 from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.4 seconds (0.2 seconds slower than the 610-4) and go on to reach a top speed of 198mph. To make up for the loss of power, the 580-2 is 33kg lighter than the LP610-4, thus making it more efficient with consumption rated at 23.7 mpg and C02 emission of 278 g/km.... Not that it matters much for Lamborghini owners anyway.

However, what is sure to the new Huracan noticed is the starting price - At €150,000, the Huracan LP580-2 is significantly cheaper than the €169,500 LP610-4 and the appeal of the badge could be enough to persuade potential Audi R8 buyers to spend their cash on this instead. Oh, and let's not forget that it is rear wheel drive - Those seeking a Lambo you can drift around corners, this one is for you!
