It's more than a job - Top Gear co-hosts refuse to resume filming without Jeremy Clarkson

Following the fracas scenario which emerged last week, the BBC motoring show Top Gear has been left in a state of uncertainty mid-series after Jeremy Clarkson was suspended from the show and the 3 remaining episodes of Series 22 have been postponed until further notice. More recently, news has emerged from the Mirror that Richard Hammond and James May have been offered to film studio segments for the upcoming shows, but have refused to do so without Clarkson.

For Jeremy's co-hosts to stand up for his position on the show, presenting Top Gear is not just a job for Richard Hammond and James May. They are part of a unity and there is a sense if one man is out of the picture, everyone goes with him. The banter they share highlights how there is a strong connection between the trio and it is hard to imagine maintaining that on-screen chemistry if they continued recording with a vacant spot in the hangar.

The BBC faces more pressure as time goes on. Following the decision to take Top Gear off-air, nearly a million (as of writing) people have signed the petition to have Jeremy Clarkson reinstated and lost 4 million viewers in the time slot the motoring show was supposed to be aired. The television giant must realise by suspending Clarkson, they are not only punishing one of the most profilic TV presenters, but also millions of Top Gear fans around the world.
