5 Reasons why you should be stoked for Need For Speed 2015!

After a year with no release, the Need For Speed franchise is back and ready to hit stores later this year! Ghost Games has showcased what they have been working on over the past few years with a teaser trailer. While the 35 second clip shows a fraction of what you can expect from the upcoming title, the developers behind Need For Speed Rivals have released this statement about the game:
With over 20 years of history in its rear view mirror, Need for Speed™ returns with a reboot that delivers on what Need for Speed stands for - rich customization, authentic urban car culture, a nocturnal open world, and an immersive narrative that drives your NFS game.
Fuelled by our very own car culture community, Speedhunters has helped deliver a NFS experience that is grounded in authentic car culture by diving into the world of past, present and emergent trends of the urban car scene. NFS will unleash the passion for cars when it releases this Autumn, 2015.

1) Cars

Since the Criterion era of Need For Speed kicked off with Hot Pursuit in 2010, Need For Speed moved away from the idea of turning average street cars into the fastest street racing machines, a trend brought up in the mid 00's. In the trailer we can see performance cars such as the GT86, Ford Mustang along with old school favourites such as a Porsche 964, Skyline GT-R and 180SX, a far cry from the exotic cars which have been the hero cars in NFS for the past few years. All of the cars racing in the teaser clip have a radically overhauled body, which brings me onto my next point...

2) Customisation

With the inclusion of more low-end performance cars, Need For Speed is set to go back to the days of extreme car customisation. It's hard to believe the last NFS game with proper visual customisation was NFS Undercover (unless you count NFS World), released nearly 7 years ago. However, tuning fads have changed since then so customisation could focus more on purposeful wide body kits and spoilers rather than the brightest neon lights and banging sound systems. When you notice Speedhunters (EA's car culture community website) is greatly affiliated with Need For Speed 2015, you get the idea of what customisation to expect in the game.

3) Graphics

It is safe to assume the graphics shown in the teaser trailer is not representative of gameplay footage, but if the Wallpapers on the official website are anything to go by, this game is one serious piece of eye candy. The nocturnal setting and damp tarmac is reminiscent of the Underground days, more evidence pointing towards this game being Underground reborn.

4) Atmosphere

Speaking of the environment, the teaser shows that the new Need For Speed game will take place in an American city at night. With the 180SX above showing California plates, it would come as no surprise if the game was set in Los Angeles, which marks the first time a Need For Speed game is not set in a fictional city. Also, the song choice in the trailer (Check out 'Push It' by iSHi and Pusha-T here!) could mark the return of a decent soundtrack!

5) E3

Ghost Games has announced the first gameplay trailer for Need For Speed 2015 will be live on June 15th, which happens to be the day the game makes its debut at E3. There is going to be no subtitle for Need For Speed 2015, so whether this is a successor to Underground or Carbon is up in the air. All we know is EA is destined to have a winner with this release.
