McLaren unveils stealthy new livery!

It's been known for a while that the debut livery for the 2015 McLaren-Honda MP4-30 was a temporary design and would be changed later on in the year. Five races into the season and the wraps have been taken off the revised Formula 1 contender from Woking and it is the most radical livery overhaul for 18 years.

Whether there have been radical changes underneath the skin resulting in significant performance gains remains unknown, but from what we can see on the outside, the MP4-30 looks more menacing than ever. The primary silver coating has been eschewed in exchange for a graphite-grey primary layer topped off with red 'Speedmarks' based on the McLaren Logo.

McLaren's new livery arguably has a resemblance to a number of midfield and back marking cars from past seasons, especially the 2012 HRT and a mild similarity to the 2014 Sauber. Even on the current grid, it can be mistaken for the Force India, but at least the VJM08 has silver accents and the streaks are in a lighter shade of orange than the McLaren.

The real beauty of this livery can be found in the top-down view (pictured above), where the Speedmarks highlight and complement the smooth curves on the car. So does the new sinister look reflect the performance improvement made by McLaren over the past 3 weeks? Be sure to watch this weekend's Spanish GP to find out as Forumla 1 enters the European leg of the championship.
