Alfa Romeo Giulia - Radical Ferrari-powered super saloon breaks cover!

If the phrase 'return to form' could be defined in the form of a production car, you are looking at it right here. This is the Alfa Romeo Giulia, the high-anticipated sports saloon packing up to 510 horsepower. Five hundred and ten! The exciting stats don't end there; the range topping Quadrifoglio Verde features a new Ferrari sourced 2.9L Twin-Turbo V6 engine, the 0-60mph sprint is dealt with in just 3.9 seconds and it will be available with rear wheel drive or four wheel drive, with the former promising 50-50 weight distribution for optimal handling.

Look at where Alfa Romeo has been over the past few years, you would be forgiven for thinking it is a brand producing fancier Fiats, other than the little monster of a car that is the 4C. However, history says otherwise with Alfa producing some of the most aesthetically pleasing performance cars inspired by the significant presence the brand had in motorsport. Looking ahead, things are set to change for the better.

The Giulia is the best signpost Alfa Romeo could hold up to say 'we are going back to the golden days!' It is not going to an easy task to shift the fire-breathing Giulia, having 510hp puts it in-line with some of the best performance saloons from premium German brands including the class-leading Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG S. However, the Alfa Romeo has two factors in its favour - It is an Alfa Romeo, a brand with strong racing hertiage. And let's not forget the fact it is powered by a Ferrari engine? That alone would have me sold.
