Motorexpo London 2015 - Part 2: Performance Collection

Following the post on Monday featuring premium road cars, today I'm going to run through some of the performance cars that were on display in the Canary Wharf Motorexpo.

The Lexus RC-F Carbon Edition has one of the most radical designs of all the cars on display outside featuring unpainted carbon fibre body panels. You remember how I said you had to be 25 to drive some of the cars in the last post? This was one of them! To be fair, it has a V8 packing 470 hp under the hood, so some experience would be needed to tame those horses.

For something a bit more city friendly, we have the Abarth 595 Competitizone. Well, only the one of the right is, the Matte Grey edition on the left is the 695 Biposto, a hardcore machine built for the track. Billed as the world's smallest supercar, it comes with 190hp, a stripped out interior with a rollcage and a jaw-dropping price tag of £50,000 with all the extras included.

Audi presented their flagship performance cars at the show - The RS range. The quickest offerings are the RS 7 and RS 6 at the top, featuring a twin-turbo V8 which is enough to give them supercar rivalling performance. Meanwhile the RS Q3 and RS 3 are also potent machines which share a turbocharged 5-Cylinder engine, producing a glorious soundtrack.

BMW also made an appearance, but not in One Canada Square Park. In fact, just as you left the train station, the Gold BMW M4 convertible could be seen. It replaces the already-impressive BMW M3 E92 (bottom left) featuring the iconic naturally aspirated V8 engine. The first diesel powered M Performance car, the X6 M50d (bottom right), features a triple-turbo set up with 376hp and manages the 0-60 run in 5.3 seconds.

To finish off, a selection of slick coupés. In contrast to the Audi TT S with its bright yellow paint and striking lines, the Jaguar F-Type is an elegant sports car finished in a more sedate black paint job. For the ultimate status icon, the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG has the ultimate blend of performance and luxury.

Ending this post with the Mercedes is a sign of things to come in Part 3 where the most fascinating cars of the show make an appearance, located inside One Canada Square building.
