Grand Theft Auto V is widely regarded as the most successful entertainment product, managing to break six record shortly after release including fastest selling entertainment product of all time. A game this successful should be light years ahead of anything else on the market, including its predecessors. Does that apply to GTA V though? Following up from GTA IV was always going to be difficult with the 2008 title receiving perfect scores from some of the biggest critics out there including IGN.
When comparing GTA IV alongiside GTA V, it is easy to see some of the elements which made IV the perfect game is missing in the sequel. Despite being released five years later, the realistic rag-doll physics were dropped in GTA V in favour of more user-friendly physics. This led to a compromise of many aspects including simplified melee combat, car damage, driving physics and more.
